Meet the Drone Pilot

"I have met so many passionate people with big ideas"

In a world first, Jon was part of the team behind the ambitious Hands Free Hectare project, which saw a field of crops planted, managed and harvested using only autonomous vehicles and drones.

The technology gained worldwide media attention and the team won the BBC Future Food Award and was invited to Buckingham Palace where they were awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize.

The project has recently secured more funding to create a whole hands-free farm.

A tech-enthusiast and problem-solver, Jon works at Harper Adams University where he manages drone systems to see how crops are growing.

He is helping farmers increase the volume of crops produced in order to feeds a global population.
